LTFRB: NO FARE HIKE FOR PUJs
By: Online Staff
Posted : 3/26/2014
The Land Transportaion Franchising and Regulatory Board has finally made it official: there will be no additional increase in the minimum fare for public utility jeepneys.

LTFRB chairman Winston Ginez said the decision to reject the 50 centavo provisional fare petition was based on data from the Department of Energy and a private oil company showing that fuel prices remained relatively low, as opposed to the main reason for the fare hike. Some transport groups earlier threatened to raise their basic fares on Monday with or without an official document from the LTFRB, saying it is high time to do so. Ginez said the agency will continue hearings on the transport groups’ petition on March 28, April 4 and 11.
