EDSA Rehab Project: Deferred Until Further Notice

The Malacanang dismissed speculations that the temporary suspension of the EDSA rehabilitation project that was supposed to push through this May has something to do with the upcoming elections.

President Benigno Aquino III ordered the deferral of the DPWH project because he wanted the Metro Manila Development Authority to find ways on how to ease traffic on the major highway before the implementing the project. Critics of the administration alleged that Aquino suspended the project because candidates of the administration party will find it difficult to move places once the traffic jams along EDSA worsen when the road works officially begin. Secretary Ricky Carandang inisisted that the president is more concerned with how the road works will greatly affect the commuting and motoring public.
