The Strong Republic Transit System or SRTS, inaugurated today, promises an improved and more efficient mode of transportation for the commuting public.
The STRS is said to lead into the fulfillment of an integrated mass transportation. It will include the reinstatement and refurbishing of the aged lines and coaches of both the Philippine National Railways (PNR) and the Light Rail Transit – 1 (LRT-1).
Likewise, the LRT 3’s completion and the construction of the platforms and path walks to interconnect the various overhead and ground railways, including the installation of elevators and escalators are part of the STRS.
It has been disclosed and noted in a report that there are seven linking platforms being planned to connect MRT3 to LRT1 in Pasay-Taft, LRT2 or Megatren to MRT3 in Cubao, Megatren to LRT 1 in Recto, MRT3 to LRT1 in Monumento, LRT1-Blumentritt to PNR, Megatren-Sta. Mesa station to the PNR and the MRT3 Magallanes to the PNR.
The SRTS is hoped to improve the traffic conditions in the metropolis and lessen the travel time from place to place. It is also deemed as a come on for people to disperse and settle in the suburbs provided with a faster, reliable and effective mode of transport.
