40 Peso Flag Down Rate?
By online staff
Posted : 1/19/2010

The continuing surge in fuel prices are forcing taxi operators to seek for an increase in fares and revealed plans of filing a petition within the week before the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board or the LTFRB.

The Philippine National Taxi Operators Association said it is only reasonable to ask for a 40 peso flag down rate because they have not increased their fares since 2004 despite changes in bus and jeepney fares.

The group adds that the petition is also affected by the increasing prices of auto-LPG.

LPG and gas prices back then stood at 17 pesos and 24 pesos per liter, while today’s prices are at 27 pesos and 43 pesos per liter, respectively.

Other transport groups earlier declared that they are seeking for the reinstatement of the 50 centavo provisional fare.
