Starting today, the Metro Manila Development Authority or the MMDA will now apprehend traffic violators without using a pen and violation booklet, thanks to a portable ticketing system or the PTM.
14 traffic enforcers will be out on the streets to use the new equipment after its official launch at the MMDA main offfice later at around 10 in the morning.
By simply pressing a button or two, the PTM will print out the citation ticket just like receipt coming out of a cash register. The device can also detect if the driver is using a fake license, has a fake traffic ticket or has a history of unsettled violations.
It will be impossible for enforcers to alter or correct any entries made using the device because is inter linked with Metrobase. Any information stored in the PTM will automatically be sent to the MMDA central traffic monitoring center.
