Are the Days of Provincial Buses Along EDSA Numbered?
By Online Staff
Posted : 8/25/2009

The Metro Manila Development Authority is proposing another way to decongest traffic along EDSA and thats to ban provincial buses from plying along the major thoroughfare.

Together with the DOTC, LTO and the LTFRB, the MMDA said they are planning to come up with common terminals preferably near the Light Rail Transit in the northern and southern parts of the metro to make it more convenient for passengers.

MMDA Chief Bayani Fernando said they are looking into the possibility of converting a property under the Magallanes flyover in Makati into a transfer point since it is near the Philippinbe National Railway station.

The plan to ease traffic flow along EDSA was first revealed by the LTFRB preventing bus operators from renewing their franchise after 5 years which will dramatically reduce the number of buses in the metro.
