It's their first day on the job and they are ready to extend a helping hand to those in need on the streets- the Metro Manila Development Authority's Responders Team.
30 motorcycle paramedics, mechanics and drivers are deployed today in major throughfares of the metro to assist victims of road accidents.
They are situated at the temporary emergency stations in Nagtahan in Manila, Ortigas in Pasig City and Libis, Quezon City and the agency is planning to put up more of these in Balintawak.
According to MMDA General Manager Robert Nacianceno, the Responders Team are excpected to arrive at the scene of the accident within 15 minutes from their stations, armed with hand-held radios, first aid kits, medical oxygen tanks, fire extinguisher, early warning devices and other tools.
This latest project by MMDA Chair Bayani Fernando is part of the agency's accident-response program.
